Exploration des tumeurs intestinales: Transit du grêle avec entéroclyse et entéroscanner
Exploration of small bowel tumors: barium study with CT-enteroclysis
The investigation of small bowel diseases has benefited from a great technologic development especially as far as image is concerned. The introduction of the multichannel scan associated to the enteroclysis technique allows for the tridimensional analysis of the whole abdominal and pelvic cavity and the study of the content of the intestinal loops. This technique is currently overtaking the small intestine barium study especially when searching for tumoral lesions. The excellent spatial and contrast resolution of CT scan now places it as the first choice examination for the detection and characterisation of intestinal tumours. Nevertheless, flat mucosal lesions and small-size polypoid lesions cannot yet be detected by this method. Therefore, the endoscopic techniques remain useful for their diagnosis.
