Ponctions sous échoendoscopie digestive: importance de l’équipe endoscopiste/cytopathologiste
Endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy: the importance of the endoscopy/cytopathology team
The objective of this update is to put forth recommendations that underline the importance of the team formed by the endoscopist and the pathologist in order to help centres that are starting to perform endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS guided FNAB), or that are unsatisfied with their results, to become more efficient. The endoscopist assures the selection of patients, and the quality of collection and information transmitted to the pathologist. The pathologist privileges a combined study of direct smear slides, liquid-based cytology and histological sections of small fragments in cytoblock. This collaboration gives the clinician a more specific and reliable diagnosis for management of the patient’s treatment.
